My work focuses on the Non-suicidal self-injury phenomenon occurring more and more often recent years. From what I have experienced, a non-neglectful quantity of individuals encountered psychological problems which drive them to injure themselves without suicidal intentions.
In my work, the majority of wound types are first drawn in concrete style and later turned into abstract iconified images to prepare for the further design procedure.After that, I reshaped the human body utilizing the reconstructed muscle and tissue composed by iconified wounds prepared before. This reshaping designing generates beautiful curves of a hand, a leg and a back image, which are resembling the rebuilding self-esteem of the victims of self-injuring psychological problems.Through designing this work, I expect the victims of self-injuring psychological problems to accept their existence confidently and realize their beauty beneath their wounded skins. Besides, the public might be more caring for the self-injuring crowd, which might be a further long turn help in diminishing future self-injuring phenomena.
